I can't think of a good reason to avoid Elastic Ports. By default, dvPortgroups are created with only 8 ports and Elastic enabled, suggesting this as a recommended practice.

You are basically correct. However, since you create two vSwitches, each of them connected to a separate physical port on the firewall, I see no reason for the VLAN tagging!? André
